Our Department is staffed with 6 full-time & 2 part-time officers.
These officers provide our community with 24 hour coverage. We are proud
of the fact that we have one of the lowest crime rates in Sangamon County.
The Village of Sherman is served by the Sangamon County enhanced
Emergency 9-1-1 telephone system. In the event that you have an emergency,
Police, Fire or EMS, simply dial 9-1-1 and help will be on the way. If you
need to speak to a Sherman Officer concerning a non-emergency matter, you
may call 753-6666 to talk to a dispatcher or 496-3256 that will be answered
by a Sherman Officer or you may leave a voice message and your call will be
returned at our earliest convenience.
The Sherman Police Department is also proud to provide many other
services to our community other than the normal patrol duties. We offer
finger printing, free of charge, for those individuals needing their prints
taken for any reason. We are also very active in the Williamsville/Sherman
School District. We instruct the R.I.S.E. program to our 5th graders in the
Sherman Grade School. We were instrumental in starting the S.A.V.E. chapter
program in the High School and still serve as an active participant still today.
We offer a Youth Mentor Program for the youth in our community in conjunction with
a Parent Support group. We are also very proud to be adding a Teen Court Program.
I am very proud of the officers of the Sherman Police Department and
the Professionalism that they show in their day to day duties in our community.
They are all willing to go above and beyond the call of duty for all of you.
I would ask that we all give thanks to the dedication of these officers.
