Median Beautification Project Started

Sherman is on the M.O.V.E. (Make Our Village Exceptional) again and is pleased to announce its latest beautification project on Business 55/Sherman Boulevard grassy medians.  On Monday, December 3, Carter Nursery in coordination with the Village of Sherman Public Works Department began planting nearly 16 trees in the grass median along the Boulevard.  The trees were selected for their hardiness as well as their beauty and include Black Gum Tupelo, Ivory Silk Lilacs and Sun Valley Red Maples.

Mayor Trevor J. Clatfelter stated “A special thanks to the Illinois Department of Transportation, District 6 Office and Mr. John Negangard, P.E. for approving the Sherman M.O.V.E. permit and continuing to support Sherman in making our gateways into our amazing Village exceptional.”

The Village of Sherman Public Works staff will continue to water the trees for several months after planting.  We ask residents and passers-by to take extra caution driving the Boulevard during those times.

Sherman M.O.V.E.’s latest project involved the purchase and installation of large flower pots at The Crossing shopping center.  They were decorated for the Christmas holiday season and will be changed out with the season.

Sherman M.O.V.E. was established in 2017 and is comprised of volunteers from the community wishing to pursue initiatives that beautify the Village. To learn more, go to https://www.facebook.com/ShermanMove/.
