Message From Your Emergency Management Agency Director

The Village of Sherman Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is a volunteer organization consisting of members of the community with experience and/or training in the emergency management public safety profession.

Sherman EMA is available to assist in a myriad of public safety duties. We work very closely with the Sherman Police, Public Works Departments, reporting directly to the Village Board through the Village President. In addition, we work with the Sherman Fire Protection District which is a separate governmental body from the Village.

Sherman EMA staff encourages the citizens of the community to plan ahead for emergencies through training in emergency preparedness. We would be happy to present a short program on how to protect your family, pets and home in case of a disaster. Some of the items we can discuss are:

  • Individual and work preparedness
  • Outdoor and indoor warning systems
  • Emergency Kits and Go Kits
  • CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)
  • Volunteering
  • Etc.

We would be happy to present our program to neighborhood organizations, resident groups and community businesses. Please feel free to contact us through the Sherman Police Department at 496-3256 or Village Hall 496-2621. The volunteers of Sherman EMA are very proud of the community they live in. They are honored to serve and provide the professionalism required in their day to day duties.

Remember, the Village of Sherman is served by the Sangamon County Enhanced 9-1-1 System. In the event that you have an emergency, DIAL 9-1-1.
