Awarded to Joe Brackhan of County Market

For services set forth in the following

CITATION

For lifesaving action taken while working at County Market, Sherman on December 29, 2021, resulting in saving or sustaining a human life. On this date at 2:16pm, Sherman first responders were dispatched to a 9-1-1 call for a reported subject down not breathing at the County Market. Sherman police officers arrived quickly to find County Market employee Joe Brackhan performing effective CPR on an elderly male that had collapsed while shopping. Mr. Brackhan continued chest compressions while a police AED was applied, and two shocks were subsequently administered. Sherman firefighter/EMT's arrived and provided intermediate medical care. The patient responded to emergency resuscitation with pulse and breathing. Paramedics transported the subject to the hospital. It was later determined the male patient survived and was released from the hospital days later without any apparent affect. Mr. Brackhan's willingness to step forward to provide immediate CPR most certainly contributed to the survivability of this medical emergency. By his personal initiative, Joe Brackhan distinguished himself during a time when immediate action was required. His heroic efforts reflect great credit upon himself.

In recognition of the above-mentioned individual, for her actions regarding dangerous driving activity observed on April l, 2022. At approximately 8:00AM this date, while driving to work, you called 911 after observing a dark gray vehicle driving erratically, leave the roadway striking a sign and mailbox. The vehicle continued the drive from the scene. Your actions to call for police response, and subsequent investigation by OFC Joe Vallar, resulted in the quick apprehension of a very intoxicated driver. Additionally, your timely call to police likely prevented any further risk to the public safety of other motorist during morning rush hour. Your willingness to help in a time of need reflects great credit upon yourself and our community.
