About the Mayor

A graduate of Williamsville High School, Trevor earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield majoring in Political Studies with a minor in Labor Relations. Trevor is currently employed as Director of Government Affairs with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 916. Trevor has nearly 20 years consecutive service as Deputy Director with the Illinois General Assembly of the bi-partisan Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability and as Budget Analyst for the Illinois Senate Appropriations Staff. Trevor proudly served eight years in the Illinois Air National Guard, 182nd Airlift Wing, Peoria, Illinois. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant, serving as an Air Transportation Specialist and Rigger.   

Trevor began his public service with the Village as Trustee in 2003. In 2007 Trevor was elected to the position of Mayor with 58% voter support and was recently unopposed and re-elected Mayor for another four-year term which he continues to serve honorably and proudly to this day. During his tenure as Mayor, Trevor has been a trailblazer leading the way in putting the Village of Sherman on the map. He increased economic development through the creation of three separate TIF districts that proved successful in bringing major businesses to Sherman that includes County Market, Walgreens, Springfield Clinic and HSHS, Farm Credit Services, Seaney Farms and Staab Funeral Home. He increased development and continually provides incentives to further build our residential base. He has developed and continues to maintain a solid and positive fiscal budget with one of the smallest tax rates in the area. He has increased Village transparency and accountability through the implementation of an active website, Facebook and related social media and a monthly newsletter.  

Trevor is married to Michelle and they and their three children reside in the Village.
